About the course:
Regardless of profession, First Aid is an indispensable skill to have. Not only are the techniques acquired transferable in many places of work, they are also useful in everyday life. UK law stipulates that in every workplace there must be a nominated person who takes on the prime responsibility for administering First Aid.
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course serves as an introduction to First Aid for managers and employees alike. You will cover the roles and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider.
You will also be taught health and safety regulations and procedures within the workplace, how to assess incidents, how to recognise signs and symptoms of injury and illness, how to take charge of incidents and summon help when necessary.
At the end of the course you will attain a recognised qualification in First Aid.
The Emergency First Aid training syllabus includes:
Taking charge and summoning help.
Priorities in First Aid.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Control of Bleeding.
Burns and Scalds.
Certification is dependent on the successful continuous assessment of the student in class. It is important to note that there is no final exam. The students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years.
The course is assessed as a Continuous Practical Assessment throughout the training.
Q: What will I learn on this course?
On this First Aid training course your training provider will teach you how to deal with vital First Aid situations such as giving CPR, dealing with shock, burns and bleeding.
Q: Is this course a legal requirement?
At present this course is not a legal requirement.
Q: How will I be assessed on this First Aid course?
This First Aid course does not have an exam, however it is an interactive course where learners are assessed throughout the duration of the course. Upon the successful completion of this course, you will be given a certificate.
Q: Is it necessary for Door Supervisors and Security Guards take this course?
It is not necessary, however the knowledge taught on this course could be crucial when you are working with the public. While working as a Doorman or Security Guard you will be more exposed to work place accidents.
