To make sure it makes the cut there are a few things you will need to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Formatting your CV.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"font-size:clamp(14px, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.357), 17px);\"><li>Use the same professional font, formatting and text size across the entire document, apart from your name at the start.<\/li><li>Repeat keywords which emphasise your best relevant experience and qualifications.<\/li><li>Be clear and well-organised.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t add a photo. Let your experience and knowledge do the talking.<\/li><li>Avoid fancy background art or colours.<\/li><li>Use bullet points to highlight the most relevant and desirable skills, experience and qualifications<\/li><li>Don\u2019t waffle. <strong>Two A4 size pages<\/strong> is enough for most CVs unless you are going for a senior management role or have been in the industry for decades.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sections:<\/strong> You\u2019ll need to present information clearly, concisely and accurately. There is a pretty well-established formula for arranging your information to best effect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" style=\"font-size:clamp(14px, 0.875rem + ((1vw - 3.2px) * 0.357), 17px);\"><li>Personal Information.<\/li><li>Professional Statement \/ Summary.<\/li><li>Experience.<\/li><li>Education.<\/li><li>Vocational training \/ qualifications.<\/li><li>Appropriate skills.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Personal Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Always feature your full name at the top of the first page. It\u2019s worth noting that there is no need to feature your address, marital status, sex, age or date of birth on modern CVs. Always however have an email address, phone number and a LinkedIn profile URL if you have one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Professional Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Write a brief, compelling summary that highlights your key skills, experience, and your enthusiasm for the security profession. Tailor it to the specific job you are applying for. Make sure you list the \u201cfrom\u201d and \u201cto\u201d dates as accurately as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to focus on security-related roles and responsibilities, emphasising achievements and contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use action verbs to describe your duties, such as &#8220;monitored,&#8221; &#8220;patrolled,&#8221; &#8220;investigated,&#8221; &#8220;implemented,&#8221; etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quantify your accomplishments with specific metrics where possible (e.g., &#8220;reduced theft incidents by 30% through enhanced surveillance methods&#8221;).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.
