Pairing a Door Supervisor licence with a CCTV licence, for example, means you&#8217;re not limited to one type of shift or one type of venue. But it also raises practical questions: do you need to retrain from scratch, and does it cost double?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what you need to know before booking a second course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-sia-licences-work-well-together\">What SIA Licences Work Well Together?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Jobs within the security industry often overlap, and so do the licences. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.get-licensed.co.uk\/cctv\">CCTV Operative course<\/a> has hands-on learning with equipment, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.get-licensed.co.uk\/door-supervisor\">Door Supervisor course<\/a> has physical intervention practical parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that Unit 1 \u2013 Working in the Private Security Industry \u2013 is shared across the Door Supervisor, Security Guard, and CCTV Operator courses, so you don&#8217;t always need to sit it twice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To claim the exemption, you must hold a valid Door Supervisor, Security Guard, or CCTV qualification certificate issued after April 2021. Refresher and Top-Up certificates are not accepted as evidence for this exemption \u2013 it must be your original qualification certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-will-it-be-expensive\">Will It Be Expensive?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The price of a second licence can put people off, but the Security Industry Authority has made it more affordable. The standard fee for an SIA licence application is \u00a3204, and if you already hold a valid licence, you may qualify for a 50% discount on an additional licence \u2013 bringing it down to \u00a3102.
