Description

We are looking for an experienced CCTV Operator with SIA CCTV License to work on a high profile site for our client Stevenage Borough Council. This is an exciting and challenging role as you will be responsible for a variety of duties. You will ensure that assigned tasks are completed in a professional and timely manner to meet client's requirements and to maintain outstanding customer service.

Job Purpose

To provide a professional, accurate and effective:

  • Public CCTV monitoring service, co-operating with outside agencies in reducing crime and the fear of crime.
  • To ensure the integrity, accuracy and confidentiality of all information gained is always secure by strict compliance with the employer CCTV operational procedures, code of practice, Data Protection Act and the GCSX Government Secure Extranet (Police Briefings)
  • Out of hour’s emergency service for Stevenage Homes on behalf of the Stevenage Borough Council
  • Respond to alarms in accordance with operational instructions

Hours of work

Average of 38 hours per week mainly over weekends plus overtime available

An Overview of some of your main responsibilities will include:

CCTV Duties:

1) To have successfully completed the training course for the award of a CCTV (PSS) Operator qualification from an SIA recognised Awarding Body e.g. NOCN, Edexel, City & Guilds or Asset. To be in possession of a valid SIA Licence for the sector you are working in or have your application for such in the SIA clearing system under the Approved Contractors Scheme.

2) To operate all equipment and cameras and to comply with the CCTV code of practice and all operational control room procedures at all times, on a rotating 24-hour shift pattern including weekend & bank holiday working as required.

3) To carry out camera patrols, initially at the start of your duty and periodically throughout your tour of duty or as laid down in the assignment instructions and operating procedures.

4) To monitor the CCTV system ensuring all captured events and actions are documented in a clear, legible, and accurate format. Record these events onto a computerised system and any other media required.

5) To accurately record details on the Incident Database and record these onto other media(s) as required.

6) To work with and assist Viewing Police officers in their duties

7) Ensure all equipment is functioning properly, carry out equipment checks as required and inform immediately all required personnel of faults found. Ensure faults are reported and documented in accordance with operating instructions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

1) To offer a professional Out of Hours Emergency Service. Ensure proper Customer Service levels are provided and all guidance is utilised when dealing with customers. Always communicate with customers in a professional and courteous manner.

2) Operate all Radios systems in accordance with net procedures. Ensure proper radio etiquette is always maintained.

3) To respond to motion alarm activations in a timely fashion. To ensure that Keyholders and or Security are contacted where needed and follow the notification process as stipulated in the operations manual.

GENERAL DUTIES

1) Maintain staff and visitors signing in and out books.

2) Ensure security and cleanliness of the CCTV Control Room and all spaces including the Kitchen is always maintained.

3) To be conversant in the following: 1, Site Assignment Instructions and 2, all sections of Control Room Procedures manual, including updates. Actively request help and training on any section you don’t understand. Follow Memorandums of Instruction and other guidelines/instructions as issued by Broadlands management and the site CCTV Manager.

4) To actively seek out new instructions or information as so posted on Notice boards, both electronic and paper copy as relevant.

5) To act as relief to cover other staff duties during periods of absence, as and when required. Assist management in filling any short-term staff shortages that occur due to sickness or unauthorised absences.

6) Provide oncoming shift with a complete and detailed handover including a detailed brief on changes/new instructions, pending items and other pertinent information.

7) Maintain personal integrity and confidentiality of all information always obtained within the CCTV Control Room, whether written, verbal or communicated by any other means.

8) To maintain personal standards of appearance whilst on shift and to ensure your dress is always in good order as outlined in your Terms and Conditions and Assignment Instruction.

9) To promote a positive view towards the company, the customer, and other staff.

10) To aid and assist colleagues, particularly new members in the development of their roles.

11) To report to management, any faults or defects that may prevent you from carrying out your duties efficiently.

12) To pay due regard to the company’s Equal Opportunity Policy.

15) To embrace new technologies and endeavour to take on board operational functionality.
