Embarking on a new career can be nerve-wracking, especially for someone who grew up, in his own words, “a bit shy.” This was the case for Moses Babalola, who felt a little nervous about his first shift in the security industry just a few months ago. But with the right training and a focus on human connection, he has quickly found his footing and a deep sense of purpose.
His journey began with a recommendation from a friend and an SIA course he took with Get Licensed. Despite a long journey to the training centre, any scepticism Moses had quickly vanished thanks to his instructor.
“He made me feel like, okay, I’m in the right place,” Moses recalled.
That feeling of value was something Moses carried with him into his first shifts, where supportive colleagues helped him overcome his initial nerves. This support allowed him to focus on his personal goal: to approach security as a service role. This mindset led to a moment that has become the bedrock of his motivation. While working in a shopping centre, he helped a lady who needed directions. As she was leaving, she approached him and said something he’ll never forget: “You have a kind soul.”

“That reward really touched me. It gives me actually more strength.”
Moses’s story is a beautiful example of how a career in security is about connecting with people, showing kindness, and finding deep satisfaction in making others feel safe and welcome.

Moses’ advice: “Go for it. As long as you’re having the right energy, you’re putting the right energy into it, the right mentality as well… I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.”
