Let’s be honest, most of us create a list of hopeful and all inspiring new year resolutions, only for us to fail to achieve them at the first huddle.

However, here at Get Licensed want to be a little bit more optimistic this year. So, with that in mind, here are 4 new year resolution Ideas for Door Supervisors and how to achieve them.

1 – Get in shape and lose weight

This resolution may seem pretty cliché, but being fit and healthy is vital for any active Door Supervisor. Being constantly on your feet and having to run in a moment’s notice to stop a fight or dispute, so it is important to have the stamina and fitness needed to be nimble and agile. To achieve this, regular exercise is important, as well as a healthy and nutritious balanced diet.

However, sometimes that is easier said then done. Switching to a healthier diet can be incredibly tricky when we are surrounded by cheap junk food, especially if you are a Door Supervisor finishing at 3am with only greasy kebab shops open.

However, with a good amount of determination and some basic tips you can slowly develop healthier eating habits. So, try and make 2024 the year you swap that McFlurry for a Caesar salad.

2 – Become more confident

Having confidence is not only essential, it is necessary to be an efficient Door Supervisor. If you are confident other people notice it, including work colleagues and members of the public. A good dose of self-confidence will help you lead a much happier life overall, and ensure that you are able to perform to the best of your ability while working in the security sector.

3 – Get more quality sleep

Working antisocial hours is not good for a balanced and healthy sleeping routine. Ideally, you should be aiming to achieve at least 8 hours sleep, even if is during the day after an early morning finish. Nothing is worse then feeling sleepy while on the job, especially when checking ID and following security protocols. Remember, concentration and focus are needed to be a skilful Door Supervisor.

4 – Reduce stress and be happier

They say that stress is one of the biggest killers out there, and it can have a very destructive effect on your work life as as well as your mental health and well-being. It may be an unavoidable side effect of our hectic modern lifestyles, as well as working in such a demanding industry like the security sector, but it is also very important to ensure that you take some time out for yourself.

The new year should be about partaking in new adventures and activities, and we think that some of the following might be that kick-start to 2024 that you will need.

  • Run a marathon
  • Go scuba diving
  • Go Paragliding
  • Climb a mountain
  • Go Skiing
  • Fly in a Hot Air Balloon
  • Learn martial arts
  • Fly in a helicopter

Are there any activities that you would like to take up in 2024? Remember, the new year is all about making a fresh start and achieving things you haven’t achieved yet. With a new year comes a new focus, so, what are you waiting for?

From everyone at the Get Licensed team, we wish you a all the best for 2024!
