A doctor; a teacher; an environmentalist. One common motivation why you would choose one of these careers is to help people. But thereโ€™s one more career that sits in the background and doesnโ€™t get as much limelight as it probably deserves.

CCTV operators are usually technology buffs who love the technological side of cameras.

There is, however, another side to the CCTV industry that the world desperately needs. Keeping people safe from harm and maintaining order in our society has become a lot easier as CCTV technology advances. Here are some reasons why ethnically-motivated people enter this industry, and why we need more to do so.

      1. Modern CCTV has become a reliable source of evidence

Crime seems less appealing when thereโ€™s a better chance of getting caught. CCTV has created a societal culture where people feel more accountable for what they do. Itโ€™s not that someone is always watching, but that someone can and will check past footage to witness a crimeโ€”small or large.

CCTV training provides operators with important skills for working with CCTV equipment. Operators are taught how these cameras work, what their limitations are and how other equipment can enhance the quality of video footage. So, whether itโ€™s at a mall, a warehouse, a school or a private business; CCTV operators help curb crimeโ€”both directly and indirectly.

      2. CCTV technology has gone mobile

If you want to see the right thing happen, youโ€™ll make sure families and businesses are as safe as possible. Itโ€™s a terrific feeling to empower people, especially after they were previous victims of crime.

CCTV technicians can install CCTV systems and enable the feed to be viewed on a home ownerโ€™s smartphone or tablet. This restores some power and authority into homeownersโ€™ hands. They can report a burglary as it takes place, so theyโ€™re not at the mercy of criminals any longer.

Business owners also donโ€™t have to fall prey to criminals or their own dishonest employees. CCTV systems can be installed inside buses, trucks and other vehicles. The footage records data such as driving speeds and employers can keep an eye on merchandise.

These systems can include tracking devices so youโ€™ll always know where your fleet is. Everything can be operated from a central command centre where trained CCTV operators help keep an eye and act if things do go wrong. Everyone deserves to be well protected and CCTV operators enable business owners to protect what is rightfully theirs.

      3. CCTV is providing the public with a sense of freedom

It may seem unlikely at first mention, but CCTV has actually expanded our freedom in the UK. Freedom from what? Well, for one thing, freedom from crime. Imagine that feeling of utter dread at the realisation that your handbag has been stolen. Shopping malls are full of petty criminals waiting for the opportunity to snatch a bag or lift a wallet.

Crime in open places has dropped significantly and will continue to do so as CCTV technology advances. CCTV operators not only operate cameras in public places but also teach private homeowners how to do the same. This is an important service that no doubt leaves a lot of people with a sense of safety & well-being. CCTV operators are providing a very important service in this regard.

The SIA CCTV training enables operators, not only to gather evidence against criminals but even to prevent their actions. The SIA training course teaches security students about body language that precedes criminal actions. Noticing this type of behaviour, a CCTV operator can report suspicious individuals.

By keeping an eye on them, criminals can be stopped the moment they want to perform a crime. The increased attention may even stop them in their tracks. A CCTV operator who is motivated by his or her moral values finds excessive joy in using expert skills to protect people and their possessions in public venues.

      4. CCTV helps monitor and regulate traffic issues in the UK

Highways and roads are implementing CCTV cameras all over the UK. CCTV operators have the privilege of managing these cameras and the additional equipment that goes with them. The benefits of this task are felt by the public every day. Hundreds of people experience car accidents daily. Whether they are minor or major accidents, CCTV cameras are there to record what really happened.

Those eyes on the street save multiple people thousands of pounds collectively. Car repairs, insurance hikes and medical bills can quickly rob you of your savings if someone crashes into you. If you can prove that it wasnโ€™t your fault, many of those expenses will be relayed to another party. In this way, CCTV operators are unseen angels who can act as witnesses or provide the footage as proof. They save people money and prevent stress from escalating.

      5. CCTV training has become an integral part of the UKโ€™s security industry

Itโ€™s important that a safe society is built. This boosts morale and benefits the country in terms of tourism and global interest. The UKโ€™s security industry plays a role in this process because security officers in public places take responsibility for peopleโ€™s safety when no one else steps up to the plate.

To optimise security in public places, you must integrate CCTV systems with safety plans. CCTV training ensures that the systems are managed by capable individuals. When operators know how to handle situations, the best outcome and safety for all are possible.

Technology is the only way to stay one step ahead of criminals. People who are driven by the value to assist others will fulfil the role of CCTV operator with passion. With the correct tools at their disposal these individuals help create a safer society.
