The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test is part of the larger CITB Health and Safety Awareness Training Course.

At the end of the course, you’ll need to pass a multiple-choice question exam. The CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test is made up of 50 questions, which cover five core knowledge areas.

Those include:

  • legal and management
  • health and welfare
  • general safety
  • high-risk activities
  • the environment

Who needs a Green CSCS Labourer Card?

Anyone working on a construction site needs to show that they have received training and qualifications to work safely on location.

A Green CSCS Labourer Card shows both employers and members of the public that you’ve undertaken the training you need to work in construction at a professional level.

Which jobs can you do with a Green CSCS Labourer Card?

A Green CSCS Labourer Card is an entry-level card that demonstrates you are able to work in manual labour jobs on construction sites. It also shows that you have effective health and safety knowledge that’s crucial to jobs like these.

A Green CSCS Labourer Card is a versatile qualification to have. It shows employers in a range of industries that you know the best practices for any kind of manual labour work, opening opportunities in building sites, demolition work, and infrastructure.

How long is a Green CSCS Labourer Card valid for?

Your Green CSCS Labourer Card is valid for 5 years after you qualify for it. You can apply to renew it up to 6 months before the expiry date, which is often a good idea if you’re still working in the industry.

What’s next after you get a Green CSCS Labourer Card?

Because the Green CSCS Labourer Card is an entry-level qualification, people working in construction, demolition or infrastructure often plan to move to the next card up if they want to keep growing their careers.

CSCS Cards are colour-coded to show your level of seniority and experience in the industry – or to show potential employers that you have a specialised skill. Most people in this industry move from their Green CSCS Labourer Card to a red card next.

Examples of these include:

  • Red CSCS Apprentice Card
  • Red CSCS Trainee Card
  • Red CSCS Provisional Card
  • Red CSCS Experienced Worker Card
  • Red CSCS Experienced Technical, Supervisor or Manager Card
  • Blue CSCS Skilled Worker Card
  • Gold CSCS Advanced Craft Card
  • Gold CSCS Supervisory Card
  • Black CSCS Manager Card
  • White CSCS Academically Qualified Person Card
  • White CSCS Professionally Qualified Person Card
