Getting to your training venue in Gloucester

Train
A good way to get to the venue is to take a train. Trains run regularly to Gloucester from nearby Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, and Cheltenham Spa train stations.

Gloucester Train Station
Bruton Way, Gloucester GL1 1DE, United Kingdom

Arriving at Gloucester train station, you can jump in a taxi to take you the 3 ½ mile journey to the venue. Or you can take the bus, which will take you around 40 minutes. From the station, walk 0.2 miles to the Asda superstore, then take the number 8 bus to Brockworth.

Get off the bus after 9 stops which is approximately 14 minutes at Brome Road. Then head to Upton Lane via Laurel Gate and walk around 0.8 miles onto Bondend Road. Your destination is the Mercure Hotel Bowden Hall Hotel Gloucester.

Parking
The venue has free parking if you are travelling by car. If you are heading into Gloucester at lunchtime, then here are some parking options we can recommend.

NCP Car Park
George Whitefield Centre, 107 Great Western Rd, Gloucester GL1 3NF.

Kings Walk Car Park
Kings Walk, Gloucester GL1 1EA.

NCP Car Park Gloucester Market Parade
Spread Eagle Rd, Gloucester GL1 1RL.

Walkability
The venue has a low walkability score of 28/100. That means it's a short walk to get to places you need, like a cafe, and most errands will require grabbing a lift with a friend in the car or getting a taxi if you don't have your own transport.

Accommodation
If you are staying over for your course, then you can stay at the venue. It's a 4-star hotel with a restaurant and bar and breakfast included in the price of your stay. There's free wifi, but you will probably get the best price at the ibis, which is around 3 miles away if you are looking for a budget deal.

However, there is also the Travelodge Gloucester, The Central Hotel, and The New County Hotel that is very competitively priced and is 3 stars. Around 5 miles away is the 3 star Holiday Inn which boasts an indoor pool. Check out local deals here.

Food
If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful lunch, then there is a Morrison's supermarket close by. You can grab a sandwich deal or get a hot lunch at the in-store cafe. There's also a Tesco's which is a little further that also has a cafe.

If you drive a little further, around 15minutes, there are lots of cafes to choose from. There's the Hungry Bean cafe at 1 St Catherine St, Gloucester, the Hubble Coffee shop at 42-44 Westgate St, and Cafe Dream at 42-44 Westgate St.

A little closer and around an 8 minutes' drive is The Friendship Cafe. It's a community project run by volunteers but has a great menu. They serve a heap of things from sandwiches to jacket potatoes, omelettes, burgers and breakfasts, along with veggie options. Because volunteers run it, the prices are excellent with sandwiches and jacket potatoes starting from just £2.00. You can get a veggie burger, beef burger, or jumbo fish finger burger served with fries from just £3.50, so don't miss out!

SIA Job Opportunities in Gloucester

There are also plenty of shopping centres, including the Gloucester Quays, Eastgate Shopping Centre, Cornmill Shopping Centre and St Oswald's retail park. There's also an airport in Gloucester, and Cheltenham Racecourse is just 10 miles away from Gloucester that regularly needs security personnel.
