The SIA Door Supervisor course runs over 6 days and is divided into 4 units: Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a Door Supervisor, Conflict Management and Physical Intervention. Getting to Your Training Venue in Darlington

You can easily travel to the venue by using these two nearby stations:

North Road (Darlington) (NRD) Train Station
Darlington DL3 6ST, United Kingdom

Darlington Train Station is about 600 metres away from the training venue. Walking to the venue will only take you about a 7 minute walk. From the station, head to your left and go straight ahead at Parkgate road until you reach the roundabout at Stonebridge road. From there, you'll need to walk to Crown St. and turn left to Priestgate road where you'll see Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel to your right.

From North Road (Darlington) (NRD) Train Station, you can walk for 15 minutes from this station to the training venue. Walk to High Northgate road for about 1.3 km and pass the Northgate Roundabout exiting at Northgate road. Upon reaching Priestgate street, you'll find the training venue on the left of the street. An alternative option to consider is taking a 2-minute taxi ride but it will cost £5 - £7.

 

Parking
If you are going to stay at Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel, there is free parking available on a first come, first served basis. However, on busy days you can access other car parks not too far from the venue including Abbott’s yard and Commercial Street. If you’re headed for lunch into the city centre, then try Feethams Multi-storey.

Walkability
The venue location has a walk score of 95 out of 100, making it a Walker's Paradise. Priestgate, Darlington is a perfect place for walking around as you can easily travel from one place to another on foot. You’ll be able to access shops, ATM’s, banks, pubs, cafes and restaurants. 

 

Accommodation
Mercure Darlington Kings Hotel is the training venue which is a 4-star hotel, just a mile away from Darlington Train Station. For other cheaper hotel options, try the Premier Inn Darlington Town Centre Hotel or Greenbank Hotel. These hotels are near the training venue, restaurants and shops. You can refer to this page for more available hotels in the area. 

 

Food 
In every street and every turn in Darlington, you'll discover restaurants and cafes to fill you up. For a quick coffee in the morning, Costa Coffee is just at the back of the training venue. If you fancy pastries for breakfast, head to the right of the venue and you'll see your local Greggs bakery. A lot of good lunchtime options are available at Cornmill Shopping Centre including Subway for fast-food sandwiches and wraps, or try Fatso's for their soup, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and fresh salads.  

As you walk along Skinnergate road, which is about 300 yards from the venue, you'll find more restaurants including Best Kebab and Influence Cafe. Best Kebab serves pizzas, burgers, wraps, and classic kebabs, whereas Influence Cafe is a place for hot drinks, pastas, and cakes. If you have time and you'd like to experience the night scene in the area, The Gate and The Hoskins along Blackwellgate road are both great places to have affordable drinks. You'll find more bars and pubs on Blackwellgate road which is only about 500 yards from the training venue. 

 

SIA Job Opportunities in Darlington
Darlington is a lively place at night full of bars and clubs, so demand for door personnel is high. During the day retail security staff are always needed at Queen Street Shopping Centre and the Cornmill Shopping Centre. The Darlington Memorial Hospital and Hundens Lane Day Hospital also need security personnel 24/7 to keep patients and staff safe. And when Darlington F.C play home games at Blackwell Meadows, security personnel are always needed.
