I did my APLH course with Olu, he was great throughout the training, with everything he covered being in the exam at the end of the day. Rana the course coordinator was very thorough with making sure everyone was checked in and ready for the exam, and if they had issues he kept them back in the call to try and fix their issues. No, you don’t need a Personal Licence just to work behind the bar. But every pub, bar, or restaurant that sells alcohol must have at least one Personal Licence holder — usually the Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) — who authorises those sales. If you want to take that next step in your career and be the person in charge, that’s where the Personal Licence comes in.

To apply for a Personal Licence, you need the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH) . This is exactly what we deliver at Get Licensed. Your Personal Licence lasts indefinitely in England and Wales. Once you’ve got it, you don’t need to renew it every 10 years like before. You just need to keep your details up to date with your local council if you move house or change your name.
