The fastest way you can get to your training at Southampton from London Waterloo is by South Western Railway to Southampton Central train station, taking 1 hour and 13 minutes, then change for the Salisbury train going 14 minutes and 3 stops to Romsey train station. Alight there.

Parking

The nearest parking to the Basepoint Centre if driving from central Southampton would be Bracken Woods (Car Park) just off Rownhams Lane, north of Southampton city. If you are driving to Romsey and want to get a bus to the venue there is parking at Alma Road Car Park, convenient for either the bus, or walking to the venue.

 

Walkability

Your course venue is about 2 miles walking distance from Romsey train station, taking approximately 40 minutes; From the station find Botley Road, and then take Whitenap Lane until you are on Premier Way. This area has a walk score of 43 out of 100. It means that there are local shops and amenities, but you might prefer to take a bus or taxi to the venue.

 

By Bus or Taxi

The bus options are services 4 and 5 towards Southampton city centre, taking you to the venue from Alma Road, which is a short walk from the Romsey train station. The journey is about 5 minutes, get off at Montford Road stop, and walk a further 8 minutes down Botley Way, onto Premier Way - from the roundabout. A taxi from the train station will cost £8-11. Paragon Taxis or Journey 2 Private Hire. It is recommended you book taxis in advance as it may be busy.

 

By Car

Follow A4 to M4 for 25 min (7.1 mi). Take M3 to Winchester Rd in Hampshire. Take exit 12 from M3 for 1 hr 7 min (65.6 mi). Continue on Winchester Rd to your destination in Romsey 15 min (6.1 mi)

 

Accommodation

Those travelling from far to attend our course may want to stay at a hotel. A reliable choice, and on the way in from Southampton city, would be Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel - managed by Legacy Hotels and Resorts, You head up to Southampton General Hospital and the hotel is just above where you meet the M27.

Closer to the course venue, and for a more individual style you could go for Wrens Farm Guest House Ltd which is a short journey to the east from Abbey Park industrial estate- down Botley Road, then just after North Baddesley village, the guest house is on Castle Lane. Or for a place in Romsey itself, there is The Palmerston Rooms free Wi-Fi and breakfast included. This traditional lodging house is not far south of the train station, on Palmerston Street. All these choices are in the £70 a night budget area.

 

Food

Being one of the busiest cities in Hampshire, Southampton is home to any tasty meal you could want. Takeaways from pizzas to McDonalds and Burger King are always within walking distance. There's a Pizza Hut Restaurant which has good menu options and there are several branches in the city centre. If you are wanting somewhere close to the venue Luzborough has solid food choices,if you take the Premier Way from Abbey Park, take a left on the roundabout and you are there. In Romsey there are plenty of fish and chips, Indian, Chinese, or kebab places. There is Funky Flamingo Romsey - Lounge & Restaurant if you fancy something a little bit livelier. Take Station Road going south from the train station, past the Waitrose, and onto Latimer Street, leading to a small turnoff called Broadwater Road. Here you will find the restaurant and cocktail lounge.
