My Top E-Learning Courses for 2025

Many a time, I have said that knowledge is power, and increasing your knowledge base is a surefire way to become more valuable as a security professional, get noticed by your employer, and assist with your career progression.

Not knowing what you want to do within the industry and what you want to achieve, I canโ€™t tailor this article just for you, but I can give you guidance on the sort of e-learning courses that may be most useful for any frontline physical security officer looking to get on in 2025. Letโ€™s get started.

6 E-Learning Courses to Aid Career Progression in Security

There are several e-learning courses you can opt for to thrive in the security industry, such as fire marshal training and risk assessment courses. Please bear in mind that these courses are just to increase your knowledge in specific subjects and will absolutely in no way be any kind of substitute for an academic degree in a security-related field, no matter how many you study. They are, however, massively helpful whether youโ€™re early in your career or need to expand your knowledge in an area that is beneficial to your current or desired future role. I love them and have benefitted greatly from many over the years.

Without further ado, here are my top 6 e-learning courses to put on your 2025 to-do list for career progression in the security industry!

    1. Principles of Communication

There is little more important to a security professional than the ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and accurately in a range of circumstances. This short course on communication by Get Licensed helps you develop a range of communication skills that are essential for security personnel.

    1. Your Personal Development

If youโ€™re seeking a framework for career progression, our personal development course is just what you need. The course provides you with the tools that will allow you to set obtainable goals and reach your personal objectives.

    1. Customer Service

It often feels like dealing with people is becoming more awkward than it used to be. Our customer service course allows you to find successful outcomes to customer interactions so that people go away satisfied with the way you dealt with them (hopefully without having to resort to physical violence).

    1. Mental Health Awareness

As a frontline security officer, you will certainly encounter individuals with various mental health issues. This mental health awareness course gives you strategies to effectively assist and identify these people whilst reducing the chance of conflict or misunderstanding.

    1. Risk Assessment

The risk assessment course gives you an excellent grounding on the risk assessment process which you will no doubt encounter as you attain supervisory levels. With Martynโ€™s Law on the horizon, this skill set will have immense value when combined with a basic understanding of counter-terrorism.

    1. Fire Marshal

The fire marshal training course is an extremely valuable course that looks at your potential role in any fire-related emergency. It goes beyond the use of fire fighting equipment, covering building evacuation procedures, liaising with first responders, record keeping and much much more.

    Helping You Get Certified

Check out our complete range of e-learning courses for additional course details, and find one that best suits your needs. Beyond enrolling in these courses, please also ensure that your ACT counter-terrorism training is up to date. If in doubt, I recommend that you sit for both online courses once per year to ensure that you are always fully abreast of current best practices. Donโ€™t forget to save the certificates for each course and give a copy to your employer!

As I mentioned briefly earlier, with Martynโ€™s Law arriving on the statute books last year, there is a lot of opportunity for security professionals with suitable counter-terrorism training to assist with a range of compliance-related duties. Keep an eye out for some of the new courses that are arriving on a regular basis, and pick the one that best fulfils the needs of your employer or the end client.

Pro Tip: For a wealth of additional free online information, have a look at the resources available on the National Protective Security Authority website. Thank me later!
