Learning by Questions: Role of Door Supervisor Licence and CCTV in the UK

Q1. Hello I am working as a security guard with a door supervisor licence in the UK but we also operate cctv. My management required me to have a CCTV licence. My question is:

  • What can I do by law with my door supervisor licence?
  • What exactly does cctv -2 activities mean?
  • Can I watch the CCTV without touching or may I allow it to touch with some restrictions?  I would be grateful if you responded to your comment. Many thanks!

A. If you’ve got a Door Supervisor Licence, that means you can work in places like bars, at events, or even in retail security. However, if your job also involves CCTV operations, you should be aware that a separate CCTV Licence is needed. Legally, you can’t operate the CCTV system without this specific licence.
