The National Water Hygiene ("Blue Card") scheme, developed in collaboration with all UK water companies, ensures public health protection and promotes good water hygiene practices. In the UK, for individuals to enter clean water sites or to work on a clean water network, otherwise known as Restricted Operations, they must hold a National Water Hygiene EUSR registration. These Restricted Operations include water pumping, water treatment, maintenance on reservoirs, wells, springs, and boreholes, as well as main and service pipe work.
Who is the course for?
This program is designed for water company employees who work on 'Restricted Operations' for a water company subcontractor or any other related organisation such as a Self-lay.
How long is the course?
This is a 1-day course which lasts for 8 hours.
What will I learn?
The primary goal of this course, which involves several modules, is to educate on the necessary knowledge and awareness of good water hygiene practices.
Course Requirements
Delegates must be over 18 and have a competent level of English in which to understand the course and read safety signage. Candidates must also undertake health screening due to…… Health screening: A thorough mandatory health screening should be performed, during which the individual must declare whether or not they have had typhoid, paratyphoid, dysentery, persistent diarrhea or vomiting, jaundice, hepatitis, or prolonged unexplained fever in the previous 12 months. Based on the screening results, the trainer will issue the final decision to allow the candidate to participate in the training.
Assessments and Certification
Individuals undertaking the National Water Hygiene training program will have to do so for three years. The EUSR is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and employers and individuals can use it to verify skills and training. Furthermore, because some workers may work at multiple locations, the EUSR prevents training duplication.
Re-Registration on EUSR: If a person's "Blue Card" expires, they can renew it by completing the training and assessment again.
