Getting To Your Training Venue In Bolton

By Train
You can book with Avanti North West, Northern & Stagecoach in Cumbria. If you depart at the Horwich Parkway stop, there is a 25 mins walk to the venue. A taxi will cost you between £9 - £10.


From the South, from Manchester, you can book with Northern Rail and leave the train at Horwich Parkway.

Travelling from the East is again a 2-stop journey with a change at Manchester Piccadilly. You can book via CrossCountry, TransPennine Express, East Midlands Railway.

The final destination on the train: Horwich Parkway, Bolton BL6 6RQ

If you fancy stretching your legs after your train ride, it is about a 30 min walk from the station to the venue. It’s a flat area making it an easy walk.

From the train stop 

  • Go east, along Arena approach
  • Within minutes head right to the Horwich Parkway Access Path
  • Then take the stairs, left, to the Horwich Parkway Access Path
  • Continue along De Havilland Way
  • At the roundabout, take a sharp right onto Chorley Rd/A6
  • Then a right turn into Manchester Rd. 
  • The venue will be on the right.

Taking a bus from the Horwich parkway train stop involves a 20 min walk to catch the 521 to Blackrod, where you will go one-stop before you get off and complete the journey by walking!

 

By Car
The training venue is convenient for easy access from the M61, M62, M65, M60 and M6 motorways. The hotel has room for 300 cars, so no problems getting a space. 

 

Walkability
While situated in a lovely area, it has a low 26 walkability score being car-dependent for most errands. It is a 5min walk to the nearest bus stop. Horwich town centre is under 10 min drive away. The nearest shopping centre is Middlebrook retail and leisure centre, a 5-min drive away. Next door is the University of Bolton Stadium—previously the Macron Stadium renamed in 2018—the home of Bolton Wanderers.

 

Accommodation
If you are planning to stay locally for convenience, you can select to book at the venue. It is a stylish 3-star hotel with a heated swimming pool and spa to relax after a day of studying. Depending on the date of your training course the price would be around £350. Food & Drink
The venue has a popular brasserie and dining room serving a set 3-course dinner for £30. For slightly more budget-friendly meals, you can head to Middlebrook. There you will find all the popular choices like Bella Italia, Nando’s, KFC, Pizzahut, Subway, TGI Fridays, Wagamama and many more takeaways, fast food and coffee shops. However, if you do not have the car with you, be prepared for a 30min walk both ways or a £10 taxi ride one-way. You can also find some of the local speciality restaurants here.

Horwich is about a 10-min drive and has a number of pubs. If you fancy a bit of Live music, try out The Bowling Green, 175 Lee Ln, Horwich, Bolton BL6 7JD or just a bit further down from there is The Old Original Bay Horse.
