Wonderful experience being trained by…
Asuenimhen Harrison

"Wonderful experience being trained by Ben McCarty. He knows his job very well. Give us the trainees opportunities to express ourselves, ask questions and respond to them accordingly. But he is sometimes too fast with words that some of us who are not English native speakers sometimes find it a little difficult to follow along. But he’s a great trainer."

Completed the DS Top up course with Get licensed and passed. Adame who trained us was great, very professional and down to earth guy. Even though he’s had various jobs and years of experience in security he just treats you like a equal, no better than anyone attitude which is good. Professional training by trainers who WANT you to pass not a back street company. Will be definitely back again for further training. Thank you.

Not sure where to start?
We'll clear it up!

If you want to work as a Security Guard in the UK, then this course is for you. When you complete this course, you'll be able to apply for Security Guard roles in the security industry.

Just remember that this qualification will not allow you to work as a Door Supervisor, because physical intervention is not taught on this course.

This makes Door Supervisor course more valuable and appealing to employers when you're applying for jobs.

The aim of this course is achieve a Level 2 Award in Security Guarding. That makes you eligible to apply for a Security Guard SIA Licence.

To work as an SIA Door Supervisor or an SIA Security Guard in the UK, you must hold a valid SIA licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

This Security Guard course is for new people who are looking for jobs in security in places like shopping centres, businesses and airports. You must successfully complete this course to apply for an SIA Licence in Security Guarding.

This SIA-recognised Level 2 Award for Security Guarding will enable you to apply for an SIA Security Guard Licence. By obtaining this licence, you will increase your job opportunities. The demand for UK security professionals is very high, and always growing.

When you book with Get Licensed, we make sure that the training provider you book with will prepare you to succeed in the exams. They'll also teach you vital knowledge needed for real life situations on the job.

Your results will be available online and we’ll also send you an SMS to inform you when your results are available.

Certificates are available via email within a week of completing the course. You may request a posted certificate at an additional cost of £14.99.

We strongly recommend that anyone considering the Security Guard training course considers the advantages of the Door Supervisor training course instead.

Qualified Door Supervisors can legally work in all of the same roles as Security Guards. However, they can also work in licensed premises such as bars, clubs, events and festivals.

More places to work means more job options and more ways to get earning in security.

Security Guards can work in shopping centres, warehouses, hospitals, corporate offices, and residential buildings. Unlike Door Supervisors, Security Guards cannot work in licensed venues serving alcohol.

Static Guarding, Warehouse & Logistics Security, Hospital Security, Retail Store Security , Corporate Office Security, etc.

Yes, a First Aid Certificate is not required for SIA Security Guard training.

The course runs for 4 days, including the final exam.

Security Guards cannot work in venues serving alcohol (e.g., pubs, bars, nightclubs). If you want to work in these places, you should take the Door Supervisor Course instead.

You’ll learn about security laws, conflict management, emergency procedures, and how to keep people safe.

Apply online at the SIA website, pay £184, and pass a background check.

No, you must have your licence before starting work.

Yes! Security professionals rely more on observation skills, quick decision-making, and confidence than size. Many roles, such as CCTV monitoring and concierge security, do not require physical confrontation. Most security guards and door supervisors also don’t typically engage in physical confrontation when on duty, as the job mostly requires critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.

Yes, the training includes a module on conflict management in the private security industry, covering techniques for identifying conflict, de-escalation strategies, and tips for recognising risks.

No, there are no height requirements for security jobs. What matters is your ability to handle situations professionally, enforce rules, and follow security protocols effectively.

There are no strict height or weight requirements for security roles. Some positions, like event security or door supervision, may require a certain level of fitness and stamina, but size is not a key factor.

Depending on the job, security guards may patrol large areas, monitor perimeters, and stand for long periods. Some roles, like CCTV security, involve more stationary monitoring. However, not all roles necessarily require extensive walking, such as door supervisor roles that only entail monitoring the entrances and exits and performing identification checks.

Some roles require standing for long hours, patrolling, and occasionally responding to incidents. However, many security positions focus on preventing conflicts rather than engaging in physical interventions.

There is no official maximum age limit to work in security. As long as you can meet the physical and mental demands of the job, you can work in the industry. Many older professionals thrive in CCTV and concierge roles. While employers may have specific requirements (e.g. hiring security guards who haven’t yet turned 60), there’s no official upper age limit, and you can still apply for security roles you’re physically fit for.

Security guard salaries vary based on experience, location, and role. In the UK, the average pay ranges from £15 to £23 per hour for door supervisor roles, with higher wages for specialised roles like close protection officers (£50 to £100 per hour).
