everything was covered and no surprises in the exam

I did my APLH course with Olu, he was great throughout the training, with everything he covered being in the exam at the end of the day. Rana the course coordinator was very thorough with making sure everyone was checked in and ready for the exam, and if they had issues he kept them back in the call to try and fix their issues. Thankfully I didn't need to experience that and went into the exam well prepared.

The Personal Licence award is a nationally recognised qualification designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises, including:

Any other venues where alcohol is sold

The APLH course is assessed through a 1-hour multiple-choice exam consisting of 40 questions. You need to achieve a minimum score of 70% (28 correct answers) to pass. The exam covers four key areas: licensing law, social responsibility, operating procedures, and relevant offences. You can take the exam online or at one of our approved centres across the UK.

Your APLH course results are available within 24 hours of completing your exam. Once you pass, you'll receive your certificate electronically, which you can download and print immediately. If you've chosen our EasyApply™ service, we'll also begin processing your Personal Licence application with your local council straight away.

Our Personal Licence course starts from £99 (inc. VAT) for the self-paced online package. This includes access to all course materials, practice exams, the official APLH exam, and your certificate upon passing. Additional services like EasyApply™ (council application handling) and premium support packages are available at extra cost. Bulk discounts are available for businesses training multiple staff members.

After passing your APLH course, you can apply for your Personal Licence through your local council. You'll need your APLH certificate, completed application form, passport photo, and the application fee (typically £37). Alternatively, choose our EasyApply™ service and we'll handle the entire application process for you, including liaising with your local council and ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly.

Your APLH course certificate is issued within 24 hours of passing your exam. However, your actual Personal Licence is issued by your local council after they process your application, which typically takes 2-6 weeks, depending on the council. If you use our EasyApply™ service, we'll track your application progress and keep you updated throughout the process.

APLH course exam results are processed and available within 24 hours of completion. You'll receive an email notification when your results are ready, and you can access your certificate through your online account. If you pass, you can download and print your certificate immediately. If you don't pass, you can retake the exam at no additional cost as part of our pass guarantee.

No, you don't need a Personal Licence for temporary events. Temporary event notices (TENs) allow you to sell alcohol at one-off events without requiring a Personal Licence holder to be present. However, if you're running regular events or operating from licensed premises, you will need someone with a Personal Licence to authorise all alcohol sales.
