The importance of female door supervisors
Traditionally the role of a Door Supervisor has been considered to be a purely male dominated domain. Door Supervisors were employed for their brawn rather than their ability to deal diplomatically with hostile situations. The security industry has however changed direction from the earlier days which saw brawn as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour and evolved into a profession which uses skill and communication to diffuse hostile situations without the need to resort to force. Industry and sociological studies conducted into the role of women within the security industry have a greater ability to diffuse hostile situations using by using both verbal and non verbal communication methods. Many female Door Supervisors lack the same physique as their male counterparts, which in itself reduces the level of conflict and allows female Door Supervisors to resolve conflict in less forceful ways. Door Supervisor Training Changes
Door Supervisors play an integral role within the security industry. Due to the role that Doors Supervisors play within the industry, they are required to undertake a specific SIA training course that allows them to develop the necessary skills and abilities, which are a pre requisite in obtaining the Door Supervisors SIA license. The Door Supervisors SIA course has been carefully designed and continues to undergo close monitoring to ensure that Door Supervisors are able to undertake their duties with professionalism and diligence.
