No. If you provide tourist accommodation such as a hotel, hostel or Airbnb accommodation without a Tourist Accommodation Certificate you may be fined up to £2,500 and potentially face imprisonment for up to six months.

The Tourist Accommodation Certificate must be displayed on your premises or near the entrance, or in any other place, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board specifies. If you fail to display your Tourist Accommodation Certificate you may be fined up to £2,500.

Yes. Your Tourist Accommodation Certificate must be renewed every 4 years. The Northern Ireland Tourist Board will also carry out a statutory inspection of your premises at least once every four years.
