Getting To Your Training Venue In Lancaster

By Train
Lancaster Station, 
Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 5NW

Lancaster City is about halfway between Carlise and Manchester. It is easily accessed by train, being a stop on the fast London to Edinburgh and Glasgow trains. The primary rail operator is Avanti West Coast, but you can also use Cross Country. The Northern line operates from the Lancaster to Barrow trains and the Lancaster to Morecambe trains. 

 

By Taxi 
The walk into Lancaster city centre is less than 3-minutes. With a pedestrianised city centre, it is often simpler to cross to different parts of the city by walking. The one-way system can be very slow at peak times.

If you require a taxi from the station, you will find that they appear when trains are due, there is no taxi rank. You can also pre-book with one of the local operatives, who include

By Car
The M6 motorway runs through Lancaster with both North and South junctions. Lancaster City is a one-way system with mainly two lanes, but it does get very congested, slow-moving traffic at peak times. Several pelican crossings add to the congestion.

Walkability
The Red Rose City of Lancaster is a busy and vibrant place to be. With a 99 walk score, there is easy access to shops, markets, pubs, restaurants and cafes, alongside many historical sites. Dominated by the castle, now a prison, the city is easy to explore.

There are hotels situated throughout the city centre and on the outskirts of Lancaster. You can find a comprehensive selection here. Prices in the city centre range from £35 upwards, most being around the £70 range per night. There are many more budget type accommodation on the city’s outskirts. You can also find a range of hotels and boarding houses in Morecambe, about a 10-minute car or bus ride away.

Food & Drink
Whatever you fancy can be found in Lancaster City Centre, from Subways to 5* haute cuisine. It is a multi-cultural city that caters to international students. As you can imagine the number of pubs is high to cater to the locals and students. There is also a wealth of variety in the food you can purchase within the city centre. You will not find many chips shops in the centre but plenty within a 5-minute drive. You can find sandwich shops and supermarkets in and around the centre. All the major coffee shops and fast food stores are within walking distance.

SIA Job Opportunities In & Around Lancaster
As a busy university city, Lancaster has plenty of jobs for licensed security personnel to take part-time or full-time, with the potential to be an excellent career path. There is a prison and young offenders unit and a large general hospital that employ security personnel in various capacities, as does the University of Lancaster. There are retail parks, shopping malls, and commercial businesses that also require SIA licence holding staff services.
